Mocksville woman convicted in husband’s murder in Myrtle Beach seeks new hearing

The attorney for Kimberly Renee Poole has filed an application for post-conviction relief in Horry County, S.C., making 21 allegations of ineffective assistance of counsel by Poole’s trial attorneys.

Poole, formerly of Mocksville, wants a new trial or a new sentencing hearing in her case. Poole, 40, was convicted in 1999 of first-degree murder and conspiracy in the shooting death of her husband, William Brent Poole.

Brent Poole, 24, was killed in June 1998 in Myrtle Beach, S.C., in a case that generated public interest in the Triad, Horry County and throughout the Southeast.
