Legal issues could surround hurricane damage in South Carolina

As evacuees slowly return home, there may be some legal issues that they will face in their own cleanup and recovery process.

University of South Carolina law professor Josh Eagle told South Carolina Radio Network that there are matters that may crop up. “The primary issues are insurance, permitting and then the larger state issues of what do about fixing the beaches,” Eagle said.

The issue of beach replenishment can be complicated due to all the parties involved. “Which involves both private money and lots of probably federal money in this case,” Eagle said. “And some state money.”
